CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Corpus Christi will get a break from the extreme temperatures that we have experienced this summer. The National Weather Service predicts cloud cover and precipitation will help keep daytime high temperatures cooler through the weekend. Most of the area will be in the 90s, with isolated areas reaching 100° degrees. Lows tonight will be in the 70s to near 80° degrees.
High temperatures and humidity can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
The City of Corpus Christi is making the La Retama Central Library available to the public as a cooling center Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The cooling center will be open daily from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The La Retama Central Public Library is located at 805 Comanche Street. The phone number is 826-7000.
The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority will allow individuals to ride fare-free upon telling their Bus Operator that they'll be traveling to the nearest cooling center. For more information, go to http://www.ccrta.org.
